Overseas Mineral Samples - Importation into Australia

Sample Submission

Samples can be submitted for analysis by emailing us with your requirements to: admin@standardandreference.com
Alternatively, the online form can be printed out, filled in and faxed to (+618) 9249 1981 - Attention: Mr Mr Ben Davies

In order to import these samples into Australia, it is neccesary to comply with Australian Government Quarantine Regulations.
These regulations are administered by the Australian Government - Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry - Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS)
Standard and Reference Laboratories is a Quarantine Approved Premises - Approval Number: W0156
Import Permit Number: IP09006067

Samples can be consigned to us from overseas, by air or sea freight.
Upon arrival in Australia, samples can be consigned directly to Standard and Reference, as we have our own sample treatment protocols in place and the have been audited and authorised by The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS)

Packaging

Samples should be contained in good condition, sealed packets or bags.
The samples should then be packed in cartons or boxes, which are clean and sturdy.
The ideal maximum weight for each carton is 10 - 15kg.
Each carton should have its own label, featuring the name and address of the sender and the name and address of the receiver - Standard and Reference Laboratories.

Documentation

Quarantine Declaration and Pro-Forma Invoice
This document should accompany the shipment and a copy should be attached to each of the packages.
For convenience, we have a standard form for download and printing here.

The information required on this form includes:

Exact Number of Packages in the Consignment
Approximate Total Weight of the Consignment
Air Waybill Number

A copy of the Quarantine Declaration and Pro-Forma invoice needs to be attached to the Air Waybill
Purpose for which the samples are being consigned Standard and Reference
This purpose is "Geochemical Analytical Processing"

Contents
It is important that the description of the goods is accurate (eg. Pulverised Rock Samples, taken from a depth greater than 2 metres)
Incorrect or misleading descriptions may cause delays.

Country of Origin
Commercial Value for Customs Purposes

This should be "no commercial value"
Quarantine Measures Undertaken
This should include a descrition of the preparation measures undertaken prior to packing.
All samples should be dried at 121°C core temperature for 12 hours prior to pulverising.
All packing will require the same treatment.
All samples should be free of animal and plant matter.

Shipment Labelling

All parcels in the consignment should be labelled with the destination clearly visible.
